So many of us want to be happy but how many of us truly are through and through? Probably very few. We are all in search of something fulfilling, thrilling, and to make us happier people. Sizeable numbers of us chase after money and professional success, believing these things to be most fulfilling yet when we arrive at our goals, how long does this happiness last – not long. So then we maybe we read on a blog that something like a steam room makes happier people and so we try that. But the feeling doesn’t last. For some, they don’t even feel anything. We continue within this mindset of unhappiness indefinitely.
Another thing to try is in an effort to fill this void of happiness, we buy ourselves things like smartphones, cars, houses, electronics, and more. The ultimate goal of all this behaviour is to get at the happiness yet we never get there. The unfortunate thing about happiness is that the only way to be truly happy is, first, to admit there’s not really any such thing. Permanent happiness doesn’t really occur. There’s always seemingly another challenge coming around the corner or some beast ready to throw us down. Just because permanent happiness may not exist, this doesn’t mean we should suffer or that there aren’t moments of happiness and joy out there. Here’s what we mean.
Do you want to be happy? Start by keeping to and living in the present. The present moment is this one. Allowing our minds to wander, to focus on the future, or to imagine the possibilities of what it’d be like to be different are all normal things to happen. We’ve got to work against these influences however, letting our minds sit in the present and enjoy the environment around us. Nothing is guaranteed and if the present moment is all we have to our name, it’s something we should all enjoy. This is why a steam room can be so valuable. In a steam room, we sit in heat enjoying the atmosphere around us. The benefits of that are relaxation, stress relief, increased circulation, and better health.
Appreciating the present moment is equally important as connecting to the universe around us. What’s meant here is, especially in cities, we are surrounded by pavement and people going places, doing things, and not necessarily open and available for communication. Everyone has their earbuds in, music playing or a podcast, and it’s just not a very welcoming place to be in. Instead, leave. Get outside. Go for a short walk in the forest, leaving your cell phone at home or in the car. Let your lungs fill with fresh air. Afterwards, get something healthy in your tummy like a natural fruit smoothie. Be open to connection. When we savor what’s around us and keep ourselves open, it’s amazing what can happen.
A steam room for happiness has been shown to help us feel happier as well. It’s often used in combination with things like exercise and diet to stimulate our bodies to feel better. Lifestyle choices like these give us the strength we need to fight the challenges as they come. Life is rich, beautiful, and yes, very, very tough. Experiences like a steam room can help a tremendous amount in slowing us down, letting us focus, and filling our bodies with positive influence. Life’s short. There’s no sense in stewing in unhappiness. Find what makes you happy. Chase it. Live appreciating the present. Recognize that it’s the journey that’s happiness.
